Financial Technical Training

Financial Technical Training

Our core offering includes UK GAAP, IFRS, audit and assurance, company law and anti-money laundering. We also provide training for those working in specialist areas such as charities and academy trusts.

All finance professionals need to stay abreast of the changes and challenges in the technical spheres of financial reporting, audit and regulation. Often the detail can be complex and dry and the relevance may not always be clear.

We highlight and explain the fundamental changes in an engaging, participative and understandable way.  We include practical case studies to bring the material to life and make it easy to apply.

We deliver training to accountants and finance professionals working both in professional practice and in industry and commerce, and have a variety of solutions ranging from bespoke in house courses to our public CPD programme.

We offer in person, online and hybrid training solutions depending on the subject area and the requirements of each client. Click below for more details on how we can support your training needs.

Case Study:

Fairhurst, Audit Skills Workshops

We have been delivering practical audit skills workshops for Fairhurst Accountants for over 10 years. Fairhurst are an independent, 5 partner accountancy practice based in Wigan, with over 60 staff.

The audit skills workshops are delivered to between 8 and 12 members of the Firm’s audit department (from junior to partner level) at a time. Our detailed understanding of the Firm’s audit methodology has enabled the workshops to be particularly impactful.

We regularly talk to senior members of the audit team to understand the issues that staff are facing and devise case study-based workshops to address these issues.

Topics covered in recent years have included:

  • Effective analytical review
  • Documenting systems and conducting tests of controls
  • Carrying out going concern and subsequent events reviews
  • Common financial statements problem areas
  • ISA 315
  • Auditing charities – common problem areas
  • Fraud hot spots
10 Audit update

“Peter is an engaging, insightful speaker, which promotes a healthy interest in the audit and accountancy topics that he presents. With his background and experience he can, and does, impart technical and practical skills to all levels of our partners and staff. His enthusiasm and willingness to discuss and debate contentious issues is a real bonus to this firm.”
