Peter Herbert - Financial Training Director, Insight Training

Peter Herbert FCA
Director, Technical Programmes

Peter specialises in financial reporting (UK GAAP and IFRS), audit, company law and AML, and also has a particular interest in charity and academy accounting and audit.

Peter’s enthusiasm for his topic and commitment to the learning experience means each training day is unique, relevant, fun and memorable.

Peter heads up our team of independent file reviewers offering hot and cold file reviews to accountancy practices and technical advice on aspects of accounting, audit and practice regulation compliance.

Outside of work Peter is a big sports fan. He is a life-long Wrexham FC season ticket holder and is also a qualified cricket coach.

Nicky Clough, Insight Financial Training

Director, Commercial & Financial Awareness, Skills & Coaching Programmes

Nicky specialises in financial and commercial awareness programmes and also on the development and delivery of corporate skills training and management development programmes.

Nicky’s style is warm, facilitative and fun. Workshops are designed to be focussed and practical, stimulating and clear and the use of a coaching style promotes individual development.

Nicky is experienced in the use of psychometric tools, including MBTI, DiSC and Strengthscope, and frequently applies these in the design and facilitation of team and individual coaching sessions.

Outside of work, Nicky loves to read and to run – though not at the same time!

Business Manager

Liz worked as a Chartered Accountant in professional practice for 9 years, specialising in financial reporting and auditing, before joining Insight Training.

Liz’s varied role in the business involves her having overall responsibility for day to day operations and client services. Liz manages the file review and training services, supporting clients with technical enquiries and training requirements.

Liz’s client services role means that she plays a pivotal role in understanding clients’ needs and ensuring that all our courses and workshops consistently meet their expectations.

Outside of work, Liz enjoys cooking, crafting and anything creative.

Mick Herbert

Michaela Herbert
Administration Manager

Michaela is a key member of Insight’s administration team. Michaela formerly worked for a large international training organisation, initially in Manchester and then in London.

Michaela runs our sales and purchase ledgers and also manages course bookings and material production for both our in house and public courses. She is the key point of contact for delegates on our accredited programme for banking clients.

Outside of work, when not out and about with the two family dogs, Bella and Charlie, Michaela is a keen cook and yoga enthusiast.

Cara Barrett
Cara Barrett
Cara is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years’ experience in Learning and Development, specialising in Financial Reporting.Cara qualified with KPMG in London, before moving into the field of training. In her current role, as well as developing and delivering UK GAAP and IFRS financial reporting courses, Cara is responsible for writing training material for international accounting bodies including the ICAEW, the ACCA and the AICPA. She has also developed in-house training programmes for clients operating in a variety of industries including banking, law and business services.
Catherine Loweth

Catherine Loweth

Catherine is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years’ experience in Learning and Development, specialising in financial and commercial awareness training. Catherine qualified with KPMG in audit and accounting before moving into training, learning and development. Catherine works as an independent consultant delivering finance training to non-finance managers, financial and commercial awareness and business skills courses. Catherine has a wealth of experience facilitating participative, interactive courses and workshops in a fun and engaging manner.

Clare Jones

Clare Jones

Clare has a professional practice background and is an experienced trainer, specialising in IFRS financial reporting and auditing.Clare has been delivering engaging high-quality technical training to local and international audiences for over ten years. Her excellent communication and presentation skills maximise learning retention on courses. Clare leads on IFRS programmes for Insight Training.
Diane Nichols

Diane Nichols

Diane is a Chartered Accountant with over 10 years’ experience as an independent file reviewer. Diane trained and qualified with BDO Stoy Hayward in Manchester and latterly was an audit partner with responsibility for HR and training. She provides review services and support and consultancy to firms on audit matters, and Practice Assurance matters, including AML reviews and reviews of SRA Accounts Rules assignments. Her reviews can include efficiency suggestions and bespoke training.

Edward Rands

Edward Rands

Edward is a Chartered Accountant with a wealth of experience in technical and regulatory areas. Edward was the Risk and Professional Standards partner for a large independent firm for 11 years, handling technical and regulatory matters and has also held the positions of MLRO and Audit Compliance Principal. He led the technical team, being responsible for maintaining accounting and auditing knowledge and dealing with complex problems and queries. He now works as an independent consultant, working with clients to ensure they have the necessary systems and procedures in place to comply with the technical and regulatory demands placed on firms.

James Charlton

James Charlton

James is an experienced trainer, specialising in financial reporting (UK GAAP and IFRS), audit and the charity sector. James spent a number of years in professional exam training before entering the world of CPD training. He brings energy and interactivity to every course that he delivers.

James’ background is in the audit technical team of a national mid-tier firm, providing financial reporting and audit technical advice to the audit and accountancy departments, writing and reviewing technical materials and performing engagement quality control reviews on audit files.

Jez Williams

Jez Williams

Jez is a Chartered Accountant who qualified with KPMG before joining the training sector in 2000. Jez is a well-known speaker on the UK accounting circuit and a member of the ICAEW Audit and Assurance Faculty Board. He regularly presents for ICAEW and for other established training providers in the UK. Jez is also an experienced multimedia developer and designer, having created eLearning content for several Top Twenty firms. He is a media consultant for several UK training businesses.

Julie Bowles

Julie Bowles

Julie is a certified and chartered accountant who qualified with a mid-tier firm before moving onto PwC, from where she moved into the training and compliance support sector. She has extensive experience of file reviews, combining her technical expertise with her enthusiasm for supporting others. She combines a rigorous application of auditing standards with a pragmatic and friendly approach. Julie works with clients to improve the overall quality and efficiency of audit files.

Richard Hemmings

Richard Hemmings

Richard qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PKF. He has 10 years’ experience in technical and training roles in both large and medium sized firms. Richard is an experienced trainer and file reviewer of audits of varying size and complexity. He looks to add value through working with teams to improve processes and in particular the use of audit software. He also provides training and technical advice to partners and staff of all levels on both auditing and financial reporting. 

Ros Martin

Ros Martin

Ros started her career in tax with the Inland Revenue but left in 2000 to pursue a career in consultancy and training.  She set up her own business in 2004 and now spends her time lecturing on all aspects of tax, and advising accountancy firms on tax planning and compliance for their clients.

 

Zoe Taylor

Zoe Taylor

Zoe started her career as a Chartered Accountant at PwC in Manchester, working in both audit and tax. Zoe now works as a learning and development consultant and executive coach and has extensive experience working with global organisations in the financial, retail and banking sectors. Zoe is involved in the development of qualifications and assessments for a number of professional bodies in banking and finance.
