Case Study: Santander Consumer (UK) plc, Financial and Commercial Awareness Workshop

Santan logo 1Santander Consumer (UK) plc is part of the Santander banking group. Over the last ten years, Santander Consumer (UK) has grown substantially to become one of the UK’s leading consumer finance companies.

The board are determined that everyone should have access to and understand the financial drivers behind the business strategy and that financial jargon should be demystified!

We were asked to put together a bespoke programme for directors and senior managers which was successfully rolled out.

The course is now available to all staff and forms part of the Management Development Programme.

The two day programme currently features:

  • Financial information – who uses it and why
  • Understanding Santander Consumer’s financial performance and position
  • Financial analysis case studies including key ratios and cash flow analysis
  • Current financial issues

We work closely with the Learning & Development Manager and Finance Department to make sure that the programme is up to date and that the content is as relevant as possible for the delegates. Every workshop features an in depth look at the company’s management reporting pack.

“Found the workshop very beneficial – probably the most useful course I’ve been on!”

Delegate, Santander Consumer (UK) plc

“Nicky works hard over the two days to ensure that everyone is engaged and understands the content. She uses information and examples that are relevant to our business which helps put the learning in context. It’s a very good course that we always get great feedback on”

Julie Leach, Learning & Development Manager, Santander Consumer (UK) plc

Case Studies: Royal Bank of Scotland, Financial Awareness, Credit Skills & Personal Development

RBSThe Insight Training team have been delivering training for RBS for over 15 years.

Working with Aptus Training, we have designed and delivered a range of financial awareness, credit skills and personal development programmes.

Key programmes for the group include:

  • Commercial awareness for relationship managers
  • Financial awareness for HR and non banking staff
  • Essential business report writing
  • Technical updates for credit managers
  • Business simulations

Much of our work has focussed on credit skills training for relationship managers. We have worked closely with RBS and professional bodies including the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland to structure and develop professional accreditation for these programmes.

Aptus Training is now part of the Insight Training group and we are delighted and proud that this long term relationship continues.

“Although an external trainer I felt Nicky had excellent Lombard/RBS knowledge that helped make the learning relevant”

Delegate, Royal Bank of Scotland
